The Cadets 2013

The Cadets 2013

The Cadets, one of the most honored drum corps in the world, announced their production for the 2013 season. Originally titled, Both Sides Now, they later changed the name to Side by Side to better reflect the ongoing discussions on design ideas. The concept is based on contrast, comparison, and conflict and the production will musically and visually express this idea through different elements.

My proposal for the identity of the 2013 show was used in various collateral and appeared on the corps’ first tour apparel. The graphic idea is simple and in line with the production’s concept. By placing two chevrons (borrowed from the Cadets logo) facing each other side by side, it forms the letter “X” which stands for the word “by.” The corps will perform the music of Samuel Barber, a classical American composer, and so a classic typeface was chosen to complement the tone of the music.

See the design for The Cadets identity and read more about this year’s production, Side by Side.
